Here is a nice and easy methode to boost contrast in a way, which I call the "local curve" - methode. It is based upon the power of "curves".

I am sure this methode is used by many people, who, like me, experiment a lot with Photoshop. I am not aware if this has been described anywhere yet. The important thing is the so called "fun-factor" when processing image-data.
